RESEARCH

My research interests lie in the field of polar aquatic microbial communities and the use of multi-omics approaches, emerging technologies, and bioinformatics methods to gain a deeper understanding of microbial community’s ecological relationships and responses to climate change. My research interests extend from molecular biology and microbiology to computational multi-omics science.

. Arctic Biodegradation and bioremediation strategies

Focus 1: Development of potential bioremediation strategies to manage oil spills in Northern waters and on the coasts of Northern Canada.
Focus 2: Evaluating the natural attenuation on hydrocarbon-contaminated beaches of the Canadian High Arctic.

. Arctic marine microbial eukaryotes in the face of climate change

Focus 1: Understanding the dynamics of phytoplankton and other microbial species assemblage in the face of oceanic change
Focus 2: Assessing the genetic capacity of Arctic microalgae to tolerate salinity fluctuations
